The 1989/90 European Cup was the 35th edition of the competition. 32 club teams took part, including 31 national champions from the previous season and the defending champions with AC Milan . The final venue on May 23, 1990 was the Prater Stadium in Vienna , where AC Milan won again.

mode

The participants played in a pure cup mode with (except for the finals) back and forth games for the crown of European club football. In the case of a tie, the higher number of goals scored away counted first; if there was a tie here too, the second leg was extended and a penalty shoot-out was used as a decision.
