UEFA Champions League 1993/94
The Vienna Ernst Happel Stadium

The 1994/95 UEFA Champions League was the 3rd season of the most important European competition for club teams in football under this name and the 40th overall. For the first time in the history of the competition, not all registered national champions took part because, due to the increased number of member associations, UEFA decided to allow the champions who were lower in the UEFA five-year standings to start in the 1994/95 UEFA Cup . There were therefore only 24 clubs at the start this season, including the defending champions and Italian champions AC Milan.

The final took place in the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna on May 24, 1995.

mode

From this season there was another change in the game mode. The group phase with 4 groups of 4 teams followed immediately after the qualifying round. The first two in each group reached the quarter-finals. This was also the last season in which two points were awarded for a win in the group stage. From the 1995/96 season , the three-point rule came into force.
