The European Cup of National Champions 1962/63 was the 8th edition of the competition. 30 club teams took part, including 29 national champions from the previous season and the defending champions with Benfica Lisbon . With Partizani Tirana , an Albanian team took part in the competition for the first time.

The participants played in a pure cup mode with (except for the finals) back and forth games for the crown of European club football. In the event of a tie, there was a playoff in a neutral place. With the exception of Benfica Lisbon and Stade Reims , the clubs started in the preliminary round.

The final took place on May 22, 1963 at Wembley Stadium in London in front of 45,000 spectators. It was the first final of this competition that did not involve a Spanish team. The AC Milan won 2: 1 against Benfica for the first time the trophy and was only the third title holder and the first Italian winner. The top scorer was José Altafini from AC Milan with 14 goals.
