Partizani Tirana is one of the most successful football clubs in the country: The club has 16 championship and cup victories each and has also won the Albanian Supercup twice . In the new millennium, however, Partizani rose to the third division. With the sixteenth championship title in 2019 , the club was able to establish itself again at the top of Albanian football.

history

Foundation (1945–1946)

The club, founded on August 16, 1946, was subject to the state at the time of the communist regime, like all sports clubs in Albania. Partizani was subordinated to the Albanian army and thus controlled by the Ministry of Defense. It was therefore customary to draft good players from other teams into the military so that they could appear for Partizani.

FK Partizani Tirana was officially founded on February 4, 1946 shortly after the end of World War II . A year earlier, in 1945, teams from two military divisions had already taken part in the first championship after the end of the war . The two teams Ylli Shkodra and Liria Korça were dissolved as clubs after the end of the season. Their best players moved to Tirana to join the Ushtria , which literally means "The Army". Ushtria played his first friendly match against reigning champions KS Vllaznia Shkodra on January 13, 1946 in Tirana in heavy rain , which ended in a goalless draw. It competed in distinctive red jerseys with each player's initials on the chest. The following month, on February 4, Ushtria was turned into a regular sports club named in honor of the Albanian partisans who fought for the country's liberation. In the early days, Partizani recruited players from Skanderbeg Middle School and the Albanian Military Academy, as well as players from other clubs who were instructed by the ruling communists to play for Partizani.

On April 7, the club played its first official game under the name Partizani , which was played against the other capital club 17 Nëntori . Partizani won the game 2-0. Since the club did not participate in the 1946 Albanian championship, it instead took a tour of Albania to play friendly matches against some of the country's largest clubs. The balance of the nine games were 26 goals scored and 9 goals against. In this shot Qamil Teliti eleven goals as top scorer Partizanis.

Early dominance (1947–1964)

Partizani took part in the national championship for the first time in 1947 . The club was already able to compete in the top division on its debut. Partizani won 14 games, had a draw and lost one game and became champions just ahead of Vllaznia Shkodra , who had won the last two championships. The following season , the Albanian Football Association decided to change the format of the championship, dividing the teams into two groups based on their geographic location, with Group A comprising teams from the north and Group B teams from the south of the country. Partizani was placed in Group A, which they won tied with Vllaznia Shkodra. Due to a better goal difference Partizani was the group winners and played the championship final against Flamurtari Vlora on August 25, 1947 . Partizani won the final in Tirana 6-2 - the second title in a row. Partizani also won the cup final in 1948.

Later, the two Albanian football legends Loro Boriçi and Panajot Pano played for Partizani.

privatization

Partizani was the first Albanian team to be privatized in the mid-1990s. However, to clarify the question of ownership had to be taken to a court, and the association ran into economic problems as a result. While there was a dispute in court, the club ended up in last place in the 1999/2000 season and had to relegate. Albert Xhani won the lawsuit and also assumed the club's presidential role.

In 2009 Parizani finished the championship in 10th place. The relegation game against Kastrioti Kruja was lost. The club in the capital ended the category e parë 2009/10 in 5th place behind three other relegated teams. The following season of the second-highest division , Partizani finished last after Xhani stopped his cash injections. After a season in the third division Partizani was runner-up in the second division in 2012/13 , sometimes under a new club management.
