Genc Tomorri

Genc Tomorri (* 1960 ) is a former Albanian national soccer player and today's soccer coach .

career

Tomorri played in the youth of Partizani Tirana and was appointed to the first team squad from the 1980/81 season. The midfielder was able to establish himself quickly and finally made the leap into the Albanian national soccer team . He stayed at Partizan Tirana until 1990 and then moved to the coaching staff. In 2010 he was a trainer at Partizan. He also coached the Albanian U-17 national soccer team around 2008 .

In qualifying for the 1984 European Championship in France, Albania met the German national soccer team . In the second leg on November 20, 1983 in Saarbrücken Tomorri managed the interim opening goal for Albania, which was also Albania's first goal on German soil. The template for the goal was Ferid Rragami with a cross from the right. In the same game, however, Tomorri saw the red card after an assault against Rudi Völler in the 45th minute of the game. Although the game was lost 2-1 from an Albanian point of view, it was still considered a great success, in which Tomorri's goal played a significant role.

Tomorri was also part of Partizani Tirana's line-up of the two first-round matches in the 1987/88 European Cup against Benfica Lisbon . Partizani was expelled by UEFA at the time after players attacked the referee.
