The Kategoria e Pare 1986/87 (mutatis mutandis: First League ) was the 48th of the Albanian football championship and was the National Football Association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit aligned. The season began on August 31, 1986 and ended on May 17, 1987.

Season course

The league consisted of 14 teams. In the season 1985/86 were Besëlidhja Lezhë and Shkëndija Tirana relegated from the Kategoria e Pare, for the new season came KS Besa Kavaja and KS Skënderbeu Korçë , both direct resurgence had managed to add. The defending champion was KS Dinamo Tirana .

The championship was played in a regular season with a round trip. Each team competed twice against each other team. The two bottom of the table were relegated directly to the then still second-rate category e dytë . The champions moved into the European Cup , the runner-up qualified for the UEFA Cup .

A total of 393 goals were scored, which corresponds to an average of 2.1 goals per game. The top scorer with 14 goals was Arben Arbëri from FK Tomori Berat .

After having had to let other teams take precedence in the title fight in previous years, Partizani Tirana has now returned to the top of the league after six years. With the fourteenth championship in the club's history, Partizani was again the country's sole record champion. The club also benefited from a point deduction for second-placed Flamurtari Vlora , who would have tied on points, but got three points deducted due to a new rule because it received more than twenty yellow and red cards. Defending champion Dinamo Tirana was punished in the same way and finished fourth behind Vllaznia Shkodra . This was followed by Luftëtari Gjirokastra , who again safely achieved relegation, and 17 Nëntori Tirana , who was also deducted points, but would not have been able to intervene in the championship fight without this. Apolonia Fier even got a six point deduction , which just barely managed to stay in the league as did Labinoti Elbasan . After a season in the secured midfield, Lokomotiva Durrës had to fear for relegation again in 1986/87, but managed that just like newly promoted Besa Kavaja and Tomori Berat with a point lead. Only thanks to the better goal difference was the other newcomer Skënderbeu Korça allowed to remain in the top division, while Naftëtari Qyteti Stalin had to move into the second division. In the preseason it had always been Naftetari who barely saved himself. On the other hand, Traktori Lushnja was beaten back . After five years of playing in the category e Parë they returned to the second division.
