The Category Superiore 2019/20 was the 81st season of the highest Albanian league in men's football . It began on August 23, 2019 and, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Albania, did not end until July 29, 2020 with the 36th match day. KF Tirana became champions for the 24th time - they last won the championship title in 2009, and in between they had to be relegated for a season. This year Flamurtari Vlora and Luftëtari Gjirokaster were relegated after the end of the season, with only two victories each clearly lagging behind the two promoted teams.

Season course

On September 21, the game between Partizani Tirana and Bylis Ballsh had to be canceled due to an earthquake . After the earthquake on November 26, 2019, gaming was paused until December 7. The games were all rescheduled until the start of the winter break at the end of December.

Due to the ban on events during the COVID-19 pandemic, match operations were suspended on March 12 after the 26th match day. The last two games on March 9th had already taken place without an audience. In May 2020, the Albanian Football Association announced that the Superiore categories would start again on June 3. On June 3, it was revealed that a KS Bylis Ballsh player tested positive for COVID-19 .

Defending champion was FK Partizani Tirana , who only managed to place in midfield. Been Moved up KS Bylis Ballsh and KS Vllaznia Shkoder , the relegated teams KS Kastrioti and KS Kamza replaced. They were able to hold on to the relegated Flamurtari Vlora and Luftëtari Gjirokastra in the top division.
