The twelve teams played against each other three times in a preliminary round, so that each club played 21 games. Then the league was divided into two groups of four: the best four teams played in the championship round for the title and international starting places, the four worst teams against relegation to the Segona Divisió . The points from the preliminary round were taken, so it could happen that the first of the relegation round at the end of the season had more points than the last of the championship round. However, this did not affect the end result.
The four best-placed teams in the preliminary round played against each other for the championship in a single round, with all results from the preliminary round being transferred.
The four teams in places 5 to 8 of the preliminary round played against relegation in the second half of the season. Here, too, the results of the preliminary round were broadcast and a single round was held between the clubs. The last placed team was relegated directly, while the penultimate relegation games against the second from the Segona Divisió had to deny.
The seventh-placed player then played a relegation game against the runner-up in the Segona Divisió . Originally, the relegation was to be held in two games on July 25 and 28, 2020. After a player from FS La Massana tested positive for Corona, the FAF decided on a decision in one game.
