The 1st HNL 2019/20 was the 29th season of the highest Croatian football league . The season started on July 19, 2019. After the 26th match day (March 7, 2020) it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Croatia and resumed on June 5, 2020. The last day of the match was July 24, 2020.
Champion was defending champion GNK Dinamo Zagreb . The only club new to the league is NK Varaždin .
