The 1. HNL 2005/06 (through sponsorship also Prva HNL Ožujsko ) was the 15th season of the highest Croatian football league . The season started on July 20, 2005 and ended on May 13, 2006.

The defending champion was HNK Hajduk Split .

The season started with twelve teams. First there was a preliminary round with a return leg, then the best six teams played the champions and the last six played in the relegation round.

The results from the preliminary round were transferred to the championship or relegation round. The bottom of the table was relegated directly, the penultimate Međimurje Čakovec did not need in the relegation, as the opponent ( NK Belišće ) did not get a first division license in the event of promotion.
