Formuladeildin 2005

The Faroe Islands Premier League in 2006 was in the Formuladeildin first mentioned Faroese played league and overall was the 64th season. It started on April 2, 2006 and ended on October 21, 2006.

Promoted B68 Toftir returned to the top division after a year. Champion HB Tórshavn , which could thus win the title for the 19th time. Defending champion B36 Tórshavn finished in third place. However, B68 Toftir had to relegate after one year and ÍF Fuglafjørður after three years of first class.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.20 per game, which was the lowest average since 2003 . The highest wins were achieved by EB / Streymur on matchday 15 with an 8-2 home game against B68 Toftir, which was also the highest-scoring game, KÍ Klaksvík with a 7-1 away win against VB / Sumba on matchday 11 and B36 Tórshavn with one 6-0 in the home game against HB Tórshavn.

mode

In the Formuladeildin , each team played three times against each other on 27 match days. Due to the previous year's placement, B36 Tórshavn , Skála ÍF , HB Tórshavn , NSÍ Runavík and EB / Streymur played an additional home game. The team with the best points at the end of the season was clear as the champions of this league, the last two teams relegated to the 1st Deild , the Faroese second division. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided. The relegation games were abolished again.

Season course

Championship decision

With two wins, B36 Tórshavn reached first place for the first time on the second match day. With a 1-1 draw in the home game against KÍ Klaksvík this had to be ceded to EB / Streymur , which in turn lost 2-0 at NSÍ Runavík after four wins at the beginning of the season , whereupon the lead changed back to B36. After four consecutive games without a win, they fell to fifth place in the table; after a brief recovery, on the twelfth game day they only took sixth place. EB / Streymur lost on the twelfth matchday by a 2: 3 at NSÍ Runavík for the first time again, whereupon HB Tórshavn was able to take first place for the second time this season after the first matchday. They had a bad start into the season. The first game could be won 5-1 against ÍF Fuglafjørður , but this was followed by two defeats and the crash in seventh place. The next games were much more successful, six wins and three draws followed from the nine games up to the twelfth game day. With a 1: 2 home defeat against GÍ Gøta EB / Streymur reached the top of the table again. HB, however, could not win from the following four games and only finished sixth on matchday 16. The gap to first place was already eight points at the time, as was the 19th matchday. On matchday 20, EB / Streymur lost 2-1 at B36 Tórshavn, but with three more wins, the lead was largely maintained. While HB won all of the last six games and even lost none of the last twelve games, EB / Streymur showed weaknesses. Only one win jumped out of the last four games, whereby the decision for the championship was made on the last day of the game. A draw would have been enough for EB / Streymur due to the better goal difference and for a long time it looked like it was before Paul Clapson scored 1-0 for KÍ Klaksvík in the 84th minute. Since it was still 0-0 in HB Tórshavn's game against ÍF Fuglafjørður at this point in time, this result would have been enough for EB / Streymur to win the championship. In the 89th minute, however, the 1-0 lead fell for HB, a minute later it increased to 2-0, so that the front runner could be intercepted by HB at the very last moment.

Relegation battle

VB / Sumba lost the first five games of the season. The first victories come on the sixth and seventh match day, after which the relegation ranks could be left for the first time. After seven consecutive games without a win, the last place was booked from the twelfth day onwards. Only a 2-1 win at ÍF Fuglafjørður ended this series, at the same time the relegation ranks were abandoned and from now on eighth place was held.

B68 Toftir was able to avoid relegation ranks with a win, two draws and one defeat from the first four games. With seven defeats in a row, the team fell to last place. On the twelfth matchday KÍ Klaksvík was defeated 3-1, so that then the eighth place was occupied. However, this only lasted until the 15th matchday, as no more game could be won. As a result, the team took ninth place.

ÍF Fuglafjørður occupied a relegation place right at the start. After victories on the eighth and ninth matchdays, whereby the first seven games were all lost, the seventh place was the highest season position. Until the 23rd matchday, however, had to wait for another win, so that from the 15th matchday the end of the table was graced.

From the 10th matchday onwards, only three different teams occupied the last three places. From the 20th to the 22nd matchday VB / Sumba was five points ahead of B68 Toftir, one point behind was ÍF Fuglafjørður. Nevertheless, the teams moved closer together, so that there were a number of postponements over the last four match days. On the 23rd matchday, B68 Toftir won after ten games without a win 6-1 against VB / Sumba, and ÍF Fuglafjørður was able to win 2-1 against B36 Tórshavn and thus ended a series of 13 games without a win. After a 4-1 away win in a direct duel against VB / Sumba on matchday 24, ÍF temporarily climbed to eighth place. B68 Toftir meanwhile played a draw, so that the last three teams were only one point apart. On matchday 25, ÍF lost 3-2 at home to B68, which meant they were eighth and VB / Sumba, who lost their own game, were now in last place. On the 26th matchday this situation was reversed. VB / Sumba was able to win the home game against NSÍ Runavík 2-0, while the other two competitors lost their games. On the last day of the match, VB / Sumba made a 1-1 draw at Skála ÍF that ÍF Fuglafjørður could not save himself with a win. The equalizer was achieved in the 58th minute after VB / Sumba fell behind in the 16th minute. In addition to ÍF, who played 0-2 against HB Tórshavn, the newly promoted B68 Toftir lost his last game 2-0 at NSÍ Runavík and thus relegated straight back to the second division. The goals were conceded in the 69th minute by penalty and in the 86th minute. A draw would have been enough if VB / Sumba had lost because of the better goal difference.
