Effodeildin 2013

The Faroese Football Championship 2014 was the 72nd season of the Faroese top football league . The league is officially called Effodeildin after its main sponsor, the energy company Effo . It started on March 15, 2014 and ended on October 26, 2014.

The promoted B68 Toftir and Skála ÍF returned to the top division after one and five years respectively. Champion was B36 Tórshavn , who could win the title for the tenth time. Defending champion HB Tórshavn finished in second place. On the other hand, Skála ÍF and B68 Toftir had to relegate after one year of first class.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.07 per game. The biggest win achieved NSÍ Runavík with a 7-0 in the away game against AB Argir on the tenth match day. The highest-scoring game completed B68 Toftir and KÍ Klaksvík with a 5-3 on match day nine.

mode

In the Effodeildin , each team played against each other three times on 27 match days. Due to the previous year's placement, HB Tórshavn , ÍF Fuglafjørður , B36 Tórshavn , NSÍ Runavík and EB / Streymur played an additional home game. The team with the best points at the end of the season was the champions and is taking part in the qualification for the Champions League, while the last two teams are relegated to the 1st Deild , the Faroese second division.

Season course

Championship decision

NSÍ Runavík started the season with three wins before the first defeat was recorded with a 2-1 defeat against ÍF Fuglafjørður . After the 1: 4 away defeat against HB Tórshavn on matchday five, the championship lead changed. HB was level on points with B36 Tórshavn , but lost first place with a subsequent 2-2 home game against Víkingur Gøta . The first eleven games were unbeaten for both B36 and HB before HB Tórshavn lost 2-1 at home to EB / Streymur . B36 Tórshavn was able to extend their lead to seven points and only lost 1-0 at EB / Streymur on matchday 17 for the first time. HB could not take advantage of this, however, as they in turn lost 2-1 in the home game against AB Argir . The seven-point lead lasted until matchday 21 and the 0-1 home defeat of B36 against KÍ Klaksvík . As the new point gap remained constant, however, B36 Tórshavn celebrated the championship on the penultimate matchday with a 3-1 away win against B68 Toftir .

Relegation battle

The first 14 games Skála ÍF remained without a win, due to a series of draws at least on the eighth day of play, they were able to occupy the penultimate place ahead of AB Argir, who had only won 2-0 at Víkingur Gøta on the first day of the game, followed on the ninth day with a 4: 1 at ÍF Fuglafjørður the second victory. B68 Toftir also had two wins at this point, a 3-2 win against AB Argir on the sixth matchday was followed by a 5-3 against KÍ Klaksvík on the ninth matchday. After a draw there were seven defeats and the crash to last place. Skála ÍF achieved their first victory with a 2-0 home win against KÍ Klaksvík, followed by a 1-0 home game against B68 Toftir on matchday 17, the relegation to the last non-relegation place was five points. After six defeats in a row and the 3-0 defeat on the 24th matchday at KÍ Klaksvik, relegation could no longer be achieved. After B68 Toftir did not get beyond a 1-1 draw in the away game against Skála ÍF on the following day, the second relegated team was determined.
