Súni Olsen (born March 7, 1981 in Tórshavn ) is a former Faroese football player who was also active for the national team . He is one of the few footballers from the Faroe Islands to have played in professional football .

Career

Olsen began his career at Faroese club GÍ Gøta and made his debut for the second team in the third division on matchday 15 of the 1997 season in a 10-0 home win against B71 Sandur II . He immediately scored his first goal 8-0, and at the end of the season the team rose to first place. On the last day of the match he came on for the first time for the first team in the top division , in the 2-2 home game against FS Vágar Olsen was substituted in for Erland Tvørfoss in the 78th minute . In the following season he was already one of the regular players, on the ninth matchday he scored his first goal in the first division with the goal to 3-0 final score in the home game against TB Tvøroyri . After he was able to achieve 13 goals in 2000 in the past season, he was obliged by the Dutch second division club FC Zwolle , who achieved promotion in the 2001/02 season as first place.
