FS Vágar , full name Fótbóltssamtakið Vágar ("Vágar Football Union"), was a Faroese football club based in Miðvágur on the island of Vágar .

history

The FS Vágar was originally founded on December 18, 1993 as a merger of SÍF Sandavágur and MB Miðvágur . SÍ Sørvágur joined in 1998 , but they all split up again in 2004. The intention was to promote Vágar football, especially as the Faroe Islands were in a severe economic crisis and many people were moving away from Vágar.

At the same time it was clear that three competing clubs on the island were too many. And so they wanted to bring a club into the top league (then 1. Deild , today Effodeildin ), which was achieved in 1995. However, the team could not hold up there permanently and finally rose again after the 2003 season.

In autumn 2004 it became apparent that the previous collaboration would no longer survive. The differences of opinion between the partners were too great and the project was therefore terminated. FS Vágar was founded in 2004 , known as 07 Vestur since 2007, as the successor association .
