The sports field

Although founded in 1906, SÍF made it into the first division (today Effodeildin ) only three times in addition to a brief guest appearance in 1947 : 1989, 1990 and again in 1992. That was the time when the national striker Torkil Nielsen played here, who after his 1: 0 became a national hero at the international football match between Faroe Islands and Austria in 1990 .

SÍF merged in 1993 with MB Miðvágur to form FS Vágar , who played in the top league from 1995-1997 and 2000. When the partners of the old FS Vágar split up, SÍF never came back up.

Sandavágur last played in the 4th league ( 3rd Deild ), in 2007 the club stopped playing with the senior team, but still has a few teams in the youth division.
