Torkil Nielsen (born January 26, 1964 in Sandavágur ) is a Faroese football and chess player . He is best known for his 1-0 winning goal in the international match between the Faroe Islands and Austria in 1990, which was the Faroese national football team's first competitive game and attracted worldwide attention due to its unexpected outcome.

Nielsen began his career at SÍF Sandavágur , for which he was active from 1981 to 1993.
