Vodafonedeildin 2010

The 2011 Faroese Football Championship was held in the first Faroese league called Vodafonedeildin and was the 69th season overall. It started on April 9, 2011 with EB / Streymur's game against Víkingur Gøta and ended on October 22, 2011.

The promoted 07 Vestur and KÍ Klaksvík returned to the top division after one year. Champion was B36 Tórshavn , who could win the title for the ninth time. Defending champion HB Tórshavn ended up in eighth place. On the other hand, 07 Vestur and B71 Sandur had to relegate after one and two years of first class respectively.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate improved to 3.54 per game, which was the highest average since 2002 . NSÍ Runavík scored the highest victory with a 9-0 home game against 07 Vestur on matchday six. The game with the highest number of goals was on matchday 12 between 07 Vestur and NSÍ Runavík, which ended 4: 6.

mode

In the Vodafonedeildin , each team played against each other three times on 27 match days. Due to the previous year's placement, HB Tórshavn , EB / Streymur , NSÍ Runavík , ÍF Fuglafjørður and Víkingur Gøta played an additional home game. The team with the best points at the end of the season was clear as the champions of this league, the last two teams relegated to the 1st Deild , the Faroese second division.

Season course

Championship decision

Newcomer KÍ Klaksvík sat right at the beginning of the table by winning the first three games. It was only on the fifth day of the match that the first defeat was set with a 2-1 home game against NSÍ Runavík . The lead changed to B36 Tórshavn , who overtook EB / Streymur 1-0 and were still unbeaten with three wins and two draws. B36 did not lose for the first time on the 17th matchday, the away game against the third-placed ended with 1: 2 away. Until then, the team was always able to assert itself in front of the closest pursuers Víkingur Gøta , who could not take advantage of the slip, however, as they themselves could not get beyond a 1-1 draw in the away game against 07 Vestur . On the 23rd match day, B36 lost to EB / Streymur, this time at home with 1: 2. However, these should remain the only two defeats, so that the lead could be maintained until the end of the season. The championship decision was made on the penultimate day of the match, when B36 was victorious 2-1 away against NSÍ and thus could not be overtaken despite EB / Streymur's 1-0 victory against B71 Sandur .

Relegation battle

B71 Sandur was in last place from the start. It was not until the sixth match day that they won 2-1 in the away game against ÍF Fuglafjørður , which was the only time during the season that they left the end of the table and the place could be swapped with the previously winless 07 Vestur. The next match day there was a direct duel, which 07 Vestur won 2-1 in the home game. There were four wins from the next eight games, so that on the 15th matchday the fifth place was for 07 Vestur. After that, however, not a single victory was achieved, so that the crash to the penultimate place occurred again. B71 Sandur only achieved their next two victories again on matchday 14 with a 2-1 at KÍ Klaksvík and on matchday 16 with a 2-0 home win against 07 Vestur, but after that, with the exception of the last matchday, no triple points were scored.

On the 24th matchday, B71 Sandur was the first to be relegated after their 2-1 away defeat against B36 Tórshavn, although HB Tórshavn , who had previously been eighth, won their home game 4-1 against 07 Vestur and the gap to the non- relegation places had become impossible to catch up. On the penultimate matchday, the second relegated team was confirmed by the 0: 1 home defeat of 07 Vestur against B68 Toftir.
