Jógvan Martin Olsen (born July 30, 1961 in Toftir ) is a former Faroese football player and currently unemployed coach .
societies
Olsen began his career in 1979 with B68 Toftir in the second division . In 1981 he appeared for the first time in the first division after the promotion . In total, Olsen played in Toftir for 15 years. During this time he won three championship titles (1984, 1985, 1992). For the last title, Øssur Hansen and Abraham Løkin were team- mates . In 1994 he moved to LÍF Leirvík in the second division, before he returned to B68 Toftir in 1996 and played four games for the second team in two years.
European Cup
Olsen played his only two European Cup games in 1993/94 for B68 Toftir in the preliminary round of the Champions League against Croatia Zagreb . In the first leg, which was lost 5-0, he came on in the 61st minute for Jákup Djurhuus . Olsen played the second leg from the start, which ended 6-0.
National team
Internationally, Olsen played once in the 7-1 win against Åland on July 12, 1989 for the Faroe Islands when he came on for Jens Erik Rasmussen in the 80th minute , but this international match is unofficial.
Trainer
Already in his active career, Olsen began as a coach, from 1994 to 1998 he was responsible for the Faroese U-17 selection . He also acted as a coach for LÍF Leirvík and B68 Toftir for some games . From 1996 he also took on the post of assistant coach of the Faroese national team , from 1998 Olsen was the head coach of the Faroese U-19 team instead of the U-17 . In 2002 he returned to club football and coached the NSÍ Runavík for two years . In his first year in office he won the Faroese Cup with a 2-1 win against HB Tórshavn , and he was also voted Coach of the Year.
In October 2005, Olsen was named as the successor to Henrik Larsen as the new head coach of the Faroese national team , with John Petersen as assistant coach . In January 2008, Jens Martin Knudsen took Petersen's place as the new assistant coach. On September 29, 2008, Olsen announced his resignation from this post after the next two World Cup qualifiers, by then he had lost all of 18 games.
From 2009 he coached the first division club Víkingur Gøta . In his first season he won the Faroese Cup with the team by beating EB / Streymur 3-2 . In 2012, the success on penalties against the same opponent could be repeated. A year later, Olsen was dismissed in eighth place after the 15th matchday and the 2-4 home defeat against HB Tórshavn . At the end of 2013 he signed a contract with B68 Toftir, who had been promoted to the first division . At the end of the season, the last place and thus relegation to the second division was recorded , the commitment was no longer continued there. For the 2016 season, Olsen trained ÍF Fuglafjørður . Since 2017, Olsen has been responsible for the Faroe Islands U-19 team again.
