The Faroese Football Championship 1984 was played in the 1st Deild called first Faroese league and was the 42nd season overall. It started on April 21, 1984 with NSÍ Runavík's game against B68 Toftir and ended on September 22, 1984.
Promoted NSÍ Runavík returned after four years in the top division. Champion became B68 Toftir, who could win the title for the first time. Defending champion GÍ Gøta ended up in sixth place. However, B36 Tórshavn had to dismount for the first time as a founding member of 1. Deild .
Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.16 per game. The biggest win achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 7-1 in the away game against B36 Tórshavn on matchday five, which was also the most scoring game.

In the 1st Deild , each team played twice against each other on 14 match days. The team with the best points at the end of the season was clear as champions of this league, the last team relegated to the 2nd Deild .
Season course
Championship decision
TB Tvøroyri got off to the best start with two wins from their first two games, but was then intercepted by B68 Toftir when TB lost 2-1 away at LÍF Leirvík . After a 0: 1 at TB on matchday five, B68 had to surrender the lead of the table to the previously undefeated team of HB Tórshavn , who in turn lost 1: 2 in the away game against B68 one matchday later, whereupon both teams were tied and B68 due to the better Goal difference was in first place. On the seventh matchday there was another change at the top of the table when B68 lost 2-0 away to LÍF Leirvík. HB Tórshavn was able to maintain the lead with two draws, after the 1: 3 home defeat against GÍ Gøta on matchday 10, B68 was again at the top. They remained undefeated until the end of the season and thus never gave up the championship. The decision was made on the last day of the game. B68 did not give up the 2-point lead with a 1-0 win against LÍF Leirvík, so that TB Tvøroyri's 5-2 away win against KÍ Klaksvík was of no use.
Relegation battle
B36 Tórshavn was consistently at the bottom of the table from the third matchday on. The first victory came on the sixth match day with a 1-0 home game against LÍF Leirvík, who were then level on points with B36 at the bottom of the table. On matchday 11, the gap between KÍ Klaksvík, LÍF and GÍ Gøta was again three points. With a 2-1 away win against KÍ, B36 was able to catch up to one point at KÍ, but the other two direct competitors each won their games, LÍF 4-1 in the away game against HB Tórshavn and GÍ 3-1 in the away game against NSÍ Runavík . The decision about relegation was made on matchday 13, when LÍF and B36 met directly, with LÍF having the upper hand with a 1-0. Since KÍ Klaksvík also won the direct duel against GÍ Gøta away 2-1, the gap before the last matchday was three points that could not be caught. The final 2-0 win by B36 Tórshavn against GÍ Gøta was no use either.
