Vodafonedeildin 2011

The Faroese Football Championship 2012 was the 70th season of the Faroese football league . After the departure of the main sponsor Vodafone , the league no longer operated under the name Vodafonedeildin . The energy company Effo was announced as a new sponsor on February 27, 2012 , so that the league has been called Effodeildin since this season . It started on March 24, 2012 with B36 Tórshavn's game against FC Suðuroy and ended on October 6, 2012.

The promoted FC Suðuroy and TB Tvøroyri returned to the top division after one and six years respectively. Champion was EB / Streymur , who could win the title for the second time. Defending champion B36 Tórshavn finished in sixth place. However, B68 Toftir and FC Suðuroy had to relegate after five and one year respectively.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.05 per game, which was the lowest average since 2008 . The highest victories were achieved by KÍ Klaksvík in the 7-1 home game against FC Suðuroy on the last day of the match, which was also the highest-scoring game, as well as ÍF Fuglafjørður in the away game on the ninth game day and HB Tórshavn in the home game on the 13th game day with a 6-0 win FC Suðuroy.

mode

In the Effodeildin , each team played against each other three times on 27 match days. Due to the previous year's placement, B36 Tórshavn , EB / Streymur , Víkingur Gøta , NSÍ Runavík and KÍ Klaksvík played an additional home game. The team with the best points at the end of the season was clear as the champions of this league, the last two teams relegated to the 1st Deild , the Faroese second division.

Season course

Championship decision

Víkingur Gøta was the only team to win the first three games and thus sat at the top of the table. The first point loss followed on match day in a 1-1 draw in the away game against HB Tórshavn . Thus, B36 Tórshavn was now in first place ahead of the tied teams of ÍF Fuglafjørður and Víkingur. On the next match day, Víkingur was able to regain the lead with a 2-1 away win against ÍF, as B36 lost 2-1 at home to EB / Streymur . Víkingur Gøta maintained the top position until matchday nine, but after just one point from three games, EB / Streymur passed for the first time on matchday tenth. They lost their only game on the second matchday 2-1 at Víkingur. After only one win for EB / Streymur between the 13th and 16th matchday, KÍ Klaksvík was in first place, but had to surrender it after a 1: 3 home defeat in a direct duel against EB / Streymur on the 18th matchday. These in turn did not lose a game by the end of the season. Nevertheless, ÍF Fuglafjørður drew level on points on the 24th matchday and had the better goal difference after EB / Streymur's 1-1 draw against KÍ. However, since ÍF did not get past a 0-0 away game against B68 Toftir on the next matchday , EB / Streymur increased the gap to two points with the 3-2 away win against Víkingur Gøta. The last matchday brought the decision for the championship, which EB / Streymur could decide by the 3-2 win in the home game against NSÍ Runavík , while ÍF Fuglafjørður only played 0-0 against HB Tórshavn.

Relegation battle

FC Suðuroy graced the bottom of the table from the fifth match day and should not leave this position until the end of the season. The first goal was only achieved on the seventh matchday, the first victory was a long time coming, when TB Tvøroyri was defeated 1-0 on home soil. The relegation was finally clear after the 1: 3 away defeat against B36 Tórshavn on matchday 24.

B68 Toftir finished last on the first three match days, followed by three wins and the jump to sixth place. Until the 14th matchday, however, had to wait for the next victory, so that from the twelfth matchday the penultimate place was occupied. Only on the 17th matchday succeeded after eight points from four games, the jump from the relegation places, on which TB Tvøroyri was now. They were there for the first five matchdays and had to wait until the sixth matchday and the 1-0 home game against ÍF Fuglafjørður for the first win. Further successes let the team climb up to seventh place, but from the 16th matchday onwards followed by three defeats in a row, the crash. Neither TB nor B68 managed to win again after the 16th matchday, but TB achieved the exchange of places on the 23rd matchday through another draw. After NSÍ Runavík had lost 1-0 to TB at home on Matchday 25, the gap before the final matchday was three points against B68 with a goal difference that was six goals higher. However, since both teams met on the last day of the game, B68 should have won by four goals, as TB scored the higher number of goals in the current season. TB Tvøroyri took the lead in the second half, which B68 Toftir was able to turn with two goals. In the final minutes, B68 even increased to 4: 1 and drew level both in points and in the goal difference. However, as TB still had the higher number of goals scored and B68 failed to score another goal, both teams retained their positions.
