Season course

Although Strømsgodset IF took first place for the majority of the series, Molde FK took the lead on matchday 23 and four matchdays before the end of the season three teams still had a chance of the championship. Rosenborg Trondheim lost the following two games against both competitors and Molde secured the championship in the penultimate round with a win against Hønefoss BK while Strømsgodset lost against Sandnes Ulf . It was the second title in the club's history for Molde.

While Stabæk Fotball occupied a relegation zone for almost the entire season and was knocked off last in the end, four teams fought against relegation on the last matchday. Only Sogndal could win his game and so Fredrikstad FK had to be relegated, while Sandnes prevailed in the relegation against the Adeccoliga table sixth and winner of the promotion round Ullensaker / Kisa and remained in the first division.

The biggest home win came Lillestrøm SK 6-0 against Stabæk on matchday 28; Molde recorded the highest away win on matchday 8 with 5-0 at Stabæk. The match with the highest goals was the match between Brann Bergen and Odd Grenland , which ended 6-2.
