The 1st Division 2011/12 (officially Jupiler Pro League ) was the 109th season of the top Belgian division in men's football . It started on July 29, 2011 and ended on May 20, 2012.

The RSC Anderlecht won their 31st championship before the FC Bruges and defending champion KRC Genk .

Regular season

16 teams took part in the 2011/12 season. These initially played out the regular season in a double round. The final table served as the basis for qualifying for various placement rounds.

Championship final round

The first six teams qualified for the championship round and determined the Belgian champions. The participating teams were each credited with half of the points achieved in the regular season. Half points were rounded up to the next higher number of points. In the event of a tie, half the point was deducted from the teams concerned. The final round was played back and forth. The first and second in the table qualified for the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League play- offs . Third in the table qualified for qualifying round 3 of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League . The fourth in the table played a playoff match against the winner of the playoff final between the two group winners of the Europa League playoff groups. The table fifth and sixth were not internationally qualified.

Play-offs

The teams that had reached places 7 to 14 in the regular season qualified for the play-offs. The eight participating clubs were divided into two groups of four teams each according to their placements using the following key:

The group games of the play-offs were played back and forth, there was no point credit as in the championship final round. The winners of both seasons qualified for the finals. There, the winner of the play-offs was determined in a round-trip, who in another play-off game against the fourth place in the championship final round found a place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europe League.

Relegation

The last and penultimate place of the regular season deny the relegation. There will be five games between the two teams. The penultimate of the regular season receives a bonus of three points and may also play one more home game than the last. The loser of the relegation is relegated directly to the second division, the winner contests an additional relegation round with three teams from the second division .
