Olivier Deschacht (born February 16, 1981 in Gent ) is a Belgian football player .

Career

He started playing for Begonia Lochristi at the age of seven before moving to KAA Gent in 1991 . He then spent two years (1995-1997) at SC Lokeren and signed in Anderlecht to play in their academy. His first-team debut followed in 2001 under coach Aimé Anthuenis . During his time at RSC, he completed a total of 449 league games and scored eleven goals.

For the 2018/19 season he moved to his old youth club Sporting Lokeren after 18 years with a one-year contract . After Lokeren was relegated this season, he received no new contract offer from there.

On July 24, 2019, Deschacht signed a contract with SV Zulte Waregem for the new season. As a result of a shoulder injury, the 2019/20 season ended for him in mid-March, as an injury break of three to four months was expected. Regardless of this, his contract was extended on April 3, 2020 until the end of the 2020/21 season.
