The 2004/05 First Division was the 102nd season of the top Belgian division in men's football . It started on August 6, 2004 and ended on May 23, 2004.

Champion of FC Bruges against defending champions RSC Anderlecht could win, realizing his 13th and last championship to date.

For the first time in the history of the Belgian league, a final placement had to be fought out in two playoffs. After the 34 regular match days, Standard Liège and KRC Genk were tied on points and with the same number of wins in third place, which entitles them to participate in the UEFA Cup qualification in the following season. Genk prevailed after a 1: 3 in the first leg (away) and a 3: 0 in the second leg (home) and qualified for the European Cup.
