Gaëtan Englebert (born June 11, 1976 in Liège ) is a former Belgian football player on the position of midfielder . After years in Belgian and French professional football, he settled in the lower-class Belgian football leagues from 2011 and, after a season at Coxyde VV, ended his career at RFC Liège , his former youth club, where he also made his breakthrough in adult football, until 2013 .
Career
society
Englebert began his career in 1986 in the youth of JS Villers l'Evêque , until he moved to the youth department of the RFC Liège a year later . In 1995 he was pulled up to the professional team and completed 32 games in the 1996/97 season in which he scored six goals. Then switched to VV St. Truiden . After two years, 66 games and four goals, he moved to the league competitor and then runner-up Club Bruges . There he quickly rose to become a regular player and won a total of nine titles with Bruges. He won the first division with his team in 2002/03, 2004/05. There were also three wins in the Belgian Football Cup in 2002, 2004 and 2007 and four wins in the Belgian Football Supercup in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. From 1999 to 2008, he played 254 league games for Bruges in which he scored 22 times. Englebert played 49 games in the qualifying and main round of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup , scoring two goals.
At the age of 32, he moved to French second division FC Tours in June 2008 , where he signed a two-year contract. After two years in Tours, he did not want to extend his contract and then moved to league rivals FC Metz in August 2010 . After only one season with FC Metz, Englebert returned to Belgium in the summer of 2011 and signed a two-year contract in Division A for Coxyde VV. However, he left the club after only one season and moved to his former training club RFC Liège , where he let his career end until 2013.
