The Veikkausliiga 2005 was the 16th season of the top Finnish division in men's football under this name and the 75th season since its introduction in 1930. The season started on April 28 and ended on October 15, 2005.
For the first time in the club's history, Myllykosken Pallo -47 became champions. Even before the last match day they had seven points ahead of their direct pursuer HJK Helsinki , against whom they then lost 0-1.
The AC Allianssi from Vantaa received no license for the next season on suspicion of match fixing in the 8-0 defeat against FC Haka .

The 14 teams played against each other twice on a total of 26 match days, divided into a first and a second round. The bottom of the table was relegated directly, the penultimate had to be relegated.

Relegation
Rovaniemi PS reached the 13th place in the 2005 season and therefore went on October 19 and 22, 2005 against the runner-up of the Ykkönen, the Vaasan PS . Vaasan PS rose due to the away goals rule in the Veikkausliiga.
