The Mestaruussarja 1939 was the tenth season of the Finnish football championship since its introduction in 1930. It was played among eight teams from May 4 to October 8. Champion was last year's runner-up Turku PS ahead of defending champion HJK Helsinki .

mode

This season the championship should be played as a double round. However, it was discontinued when the additional exercises before the Winter War began on October 10, 1939. Two days later, the football association announced that it would suspend all football leagues.

Due to the war, seven games could not be played. On April 28, 1940, the association decided the championship was over. A relegation did not take place, so that Kuopion Pallotoverit and Viipuri Reipas were the suffering clubs.

In the following year, the championship was held in cup mode, as before 1930.
