Mestaruussarja 1959

The Mestaruussarja 1960 was the 30th season of the Finnish football championship since its introduction in 1930. It was played among twelve teams from May 1 to October 16. Haka Valkeakoski became Finnish champions in 1960 with just one defeat and one draw. The lead over the second Turku PS was 13 points in the end.

The league was increased by two clubs to twelve teams. The last three clubs were relegated.

    Top scorer

    Turku PS's Matti Sundelin was Mestaruussarja top scorer with 30 goals in 1960. Sundelin won this award for the third time after 1957 and 1959.

    Soccer cup

    Last year's winner Haka Valkeakoski and RU-38 Pori faced each other in the final of the Finnish Football Cup on October 23 at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium . In front of a record crowd of over 4,700 spectators, Valkeakoski won 3-1 after extra time and thus already won the national cup for the third time.
