The Mestaruussarja 1937 was the eighth season of the Finnish football championship since its introduction in 1930. It was played among eight teams from May 9th to October 17th. Champion Helsinki IFK defending champions HJK Helsinki .
There was an innovation in the relegation system: After the two bottom of the table were always relegated directly, a relegation has now been introduced. The table seventh played against the second-best second division team. For 1937 this meant that Vaasa IFK and Vaasan PS played against each other in the relegation . The Vaasan PS was able to prevail in this derby after a 2: 2 in the first leg just 3: 2 against Vaasa IFK and thus rose.
Aatos Lehtonen from HJK Helsinki was the top scorer for the third time in a row after 1935 and 1936 . Aatos Lehtonen scored 25 goals, almost half of all HJK Helsinki's goals.
