The Veikkausliiga 2001 was the twelfth season of the top Finnish division in men's football under this name and the 71st season since its introduction in 1930. It began on April 22nd and ended on October 27, 2001.
It was only on the last day of the match that Tampere United secured the title for the first time in club history by beating Jazz Pori 1-0 .
In the final of the Finnish Football Cup , Atlantis FC beat Tampere United 1-0.
