The Fotbollsallsvenskan 2001 was the 77th season of the highest Swedish football league . The Swedish championship title was played between April 7th and October 27th of that year.
In the three-way battle between the teams from the Stockholm area, Hammarby IF prevailed ahead of Djurgårdens IF and AIK Solna and won the Swedish championship for the first time in the club's history. This made the team around players like Kennedy Bakırcıoğlu , Christer Fursth , Andreas Hermansson , Peter Markstedt , Suleyman Sleyman and Jonas Stark also the first club to receive the newly created Lennart Johansson Cup after it was revealed that the namesake of the previous one Trophy, the Von Rosens Cup , which Clarence von Rosen had campaigned for National Socialism .
In the relegation battle Trelleborgs FF had no chance and had to relegate to the Superettan after only three wins this season . The club was accompanied by BK Häcken . The third from bottom of the table, IFK Norrköping , was able to hold the class in the relegation games against Mjällby AIF .
