Season course
Rosenborg BK won the Norwegian championship for the tenth time in a row. It was also the 16th championship for the team.
The season was very balanced from start to finish. No team was able to clear more than four points during the season. Significantly, after the second matchday with Tromsø IL (with two wins and six points), the team was at the top of the table, which only managed to land two more wins for the rest of the season and finally to relegate to the 1st division while in last place . After the eleventh game day, Viking and Rosenborg were tied in front and had a small cushion of six points ahead of the rest of the league. But then Lillestrøm, Brann Bergen and Stabæk moved closer again. Up to the 18th matchday, the first five teams only separated a maximum of four points. In the last quarter of the season, Stabæk and Brann fell back one after the other. After the 22nd matchday, Viking was six points away from Rosenborg. Rosenborg won eight times in a row between matchday 15 and 22. Despite Lillestrøm's defeat (1: 2) against their direct rivals Rosenborg on matchday 24 and four points behind, the decision in favor of Rosenborg was only made on the last matchday. Rosenborg BK secured the championship by just one point. Lillestrøm secured second place and qualification for the Champions League.
Viking won the cup. It was the fifth overall victory and the first since 1989. Of the promoted teams, Lyn Oslo and Sogndal IL held their own in the Tippeligaen . Strømsgodset IF, however, had to relegate to the 1st division.
