The 1st division (norw. 1. divisjon ) is the second highest division in Norwegian men's football, after the elite series . Between 1963 and 1990 the league was called 2. Division . From 2005 to 2013 it was named after sponsor Adecco , a provider of personnel services . In 2014 it was only called 1st Division again. Since 2015 it has been named after the new sponsor OBOS , who is both a cooperative building society and a construction company and property manager. The official name is currently OBOS-ligaen.

mode

There are 16 teams playing in the league. All teams play against each other twice, once at home and once away.

Promotion to the elite series

Up to three teams can be promoted to the elite series . The first two teams will be promoted directly. The teams in places 3 to 6 determine the third promoted team with the third from bottom of the elite series in a qualifying tournament. First of all, in two semi-finals, the third place in the OBOS league will play against the sixth place at home and the fourth place against the fifth place at home. In the final of the two winners, the higher placed team has home rights. The winner of the final then plays in two relegation games against the third from bottom of the elite series for promotion to or not relegation from the elite series.

Only the last one dismounted directly.

By the 2007 season , the two first-placed players went straight to the Tippeliga and the third-placed player played a relegation against the third-bottom of the Tippeliga. From the 2009 season , the NFF introduced a qualifying tournament, which the third, fourth and fifth placed players with. In the semi-finals, the third-bottom of the Tippeliga played against the fifth-placed Adeccoliga and the third-placed against fourth-placed. The winners then played in a round trip for the last qualifying place in the Tippeliga. In the 2012 season this regulation was modified slightly: now the teams playing in the squares 3 to 6 in a knockout round against each other and the winner of the final game denies two relegation matches against third-bottom of TippeligaenTransfer.
