The club, founded in 1918, was one of the founding members of the first Norwegian league, which was played in several seasons in the 1937/38 debut season . Until the outbreak of the Second World War , the team played in the back of the league season District III , but kept in the first class. After the game was resumed in the 1947/48 season , the club took second place in the season. So he had to relegate, because due to a concentration only the best of the season qualified for the Hovedserien 1948/49 , which will be held in two seasons . Raufoss IL had established itself in the second Norwegian division .
