Strømmen Idrettsforening is a Norwegian football club from Strømmen .

history

Strømmen IF goes back to the Strømmen Fotballklubb , founded in 1911 , which merged with Strømmen Idrettslag in 1945 and then adopted the new name.

Strømmen IF won its second division season in 1949 and prevailed in the promotion round. In the Hovedserien , the team initially played most of the time against relegation. In the season 1953/54 , the club finished second in its first division season behind Fredrikstad FK , the entry into the championship final was missed by one point. The following year the club was relegated, but returned directly with twelve wins in 14 games before Lyn Oslo . As in the season before relegation, the second place in the top division of the country, accompanied by the semi-finals of the national cup. This time the club stayed in the league until relegated in 1961 .

Strømmen IF was victim of a league reform after relegation and was passed through as fourth in the table in the third division. The immediate ascent was immediately followed by another descent. Then the club established itself in the third division, before it was passed through to the fourth division in 1971.

1975 Strømmen IF returned to the third division, two years later he was second class again. After relegation, the club played until they were promoted again in 1981 in the third division. After several seasons in the middle of the second division, the team rose back to the first division in 1985.

After five defeats in a row, Strømmen IF only scored their first win of the season in the 1986 season with a 4-1 away win at Molde FK . Despite another win of the season against Kongsvinger IL , the club remained on a relegation place until the end of the season, but rose again as the second division season winner. With five wins this season, the club again ended the season in a relegation zone.

In 1992 Strømmen IF qualified for the promotion round to Tippeligaen, behind Hamarkameratene and Drøbak / Frogn IL the team missed promotion. In the following season, the club rose again to the third division , in 1998 from the fourth division. In 2007 the club returned to the third division . The club initially played against relegation there, the team won their third division season in 2009 and rose to the second-rate Adeccoliga .
