The Prva liga ( Serbian - Cyrillic Прва лига : Serbian for "First League"), also Prva liga Srbije ("First League of Serbia"), PLS for short , is the name for the second highest soccer league in Serbia after the SuperLiga . The Prva liga is organized and implemented by the Serbian Football Association . 16 teams play in the Prva liga.

The two best teams of the season are promoted directly to the SuperLiga, the third in the table has the opportunity to qualify in two relegation games against the fourth in the SuperLiga.

The last four are relegated to the 3rd division, called the Srpska liga (“Serbian League”). The main sponsor of the league was the Serbian Telecom , after which it was named until 2009/2010.

Foreign players

As of the 2010/11 season, a maximum of two players with non-Serbian passports may be licensed and deployed per team.
