The 2nd league is the second highest Slovak division in men's football .

history

Since the 2014/15 season, the league has had the sponsor name DOXXbet liga after the Slovak sports betting provider DOXXbet . It was established in its current form in 1993 after the division of the Czechoslovakia . It initially consisted of 16 teams from 1993 to 2007, except from 1997 to 2002, where 18 teams took part. From the 2007/08 season to 2013/14 the system was the same as in the Fortuna league (12 teams). The only difference was that two teams were relegated. The mode of the league was changed for the 2014/15 season. Instead of twelve clubs in one league, the game was divided into two groups (west and east) with twelve teams each. From the 2017/18 season onwards, a uniform league with 16 teams will be played again.

From 1997 to 2011 it was called the 1st league, and since the summer of 2011 it has been called the 2nd league again.
