The FC VSS Kosice (2015 MFK Košice) was a Slovak football club from Kosice . It was founded on June 17, 2005 when the second division club FC Steel Trans Ličartovce moved to Košice, in which the city of Košice was also involved.
In the first 2005/06 season, the club was promoted to the top Slovak division, the Corgoň liga . In the following season 2006/07 the MFK Košice was fifth.
History FC Steel Trans Ličartovce
In Ličartovce , only low-class games were played for a long time. In 1991/92 TJ Družstevník Ličartovce was in the seventh division. In 1992 Blažej Podolák joined the club and renamed it FC Plastt Ličartovce. Several promotions followed one after the other until 1996 in the second division. At the beginning of 1997, Steel Trans joined the company as the new main sponsor, which further improved the company's financial possibilities.
After several midfield placements Ličartovce 2001/02 played for promotion to the first division, but was only second. The team was able to repeat this result in 2002/03 and 2003/04. In 2004 the eleven made it to the final of the Slovak Cup , but lost 2-0 to Artmedia Petržalka . In the following season there was again a second place to be booked.
Then Steel Trans decided to relocate the club to Košice. A joint-stock company with ten million Slovak crowns as share capital was founded, Steel Trans Ličartovce and the city of Košice took over half of the shares.
In 2017, the club stopped playing.
