The Experts is a German feature film from 1973. It is the debut film by director and screenwriter Norbert Kückelmann .

action

The young lawyer Matthias Mainzer is a person who leads a completely normal life. He goes about his work inconspicuously and is the typical gray mouse from the crowd in the big city. One day he gets into a fight through no fault of his own and is accused of being the trigger for this fight. The police officers ensure that he is sent to a psychiatric clinic for examination. Now he is confronted with numerous legal and medical experts . A spiral of abstruse judgments, measures and diagnoses is set in motion. Mainzer is getting deeper and deeper into the swamp and is broken by the experts without the use of force. As a ruined man, he is eventually released again. But Mainzer cannot return to his normal life. The psychological wounds that the experts inflicted on him are too deep.

Awards

Kückelmann showed his film in the 1973 Berlinale competition and won a Silver Bear . In 1973 he also received the German Film Prize in the Best Film category .
