life and career

Michael Strixner, whose father died in a traffic accident just a year after his birth, grew up under the care of his mother and aunt on the outskirts of Rosenheim . After training as a radio mechanic in Rosenheim and later as a sound technician in Munich, he worked from 1965 to 1980 as a lighting and sound technician and film projectionist at the Rosenheim Theater. In addition, he played amateur theater in Rosenheim and was there on stage in adaptations based on Ludwig Thoma . Horst Rankl said about Strixner: "His style of playing was similar to the young Wastl Witt and was particularly suitable for roles as a farmhand or farmer."

Peter Fleischmann was also looking for amateur actors for the main roles for his controversial film Hunting Scenes from Lower Bavaria . He finally discovered Strixner, who was given the role of a servant who was not very successful with women and who particularly excelled in hostility towards a gay villager. Strixner's portrayal was widely praised as authentic and he was awarded the German Film Prize for best performance .

However, only a few minor film and television roles followed for Strixner, who thus remained a film-acting one-hit wonder . In 1979 he had a recurring supporting role in the series The Protocols of Mr. M. at the side of Horst Janson and Herbert Fleischmann , then it became increasingly quiet around him. In the 1980s he was a member of a theater group that performed plays in schools in Bavaria and Austria. Health problems ended his professional career in the mid-1990s and he spent the last years of his life in a nursing home in Samerberg .
