Wastl Witt (born July 20, 1882 in Hausham , Miesbach district , Upper Bavaria , † December 21, 1955 in Munich ) was a Bavarian folk actor .

Life

The former miner was initially an amateur actor on various stages, such as the Schlierseer Bauerntheater , the Dengg theater group in Tegernsee or the Reichenhaller Bauerntheater. He was also a state actor at the Residenztheater in Munich. During the First World War , Wastl Witt played Ferdl's front stage in Weiß . He has worked in numerous films, mostly with a Bavarian background, and in productions for Bavarian Radio . Often he played farmers or foresters .

One of the most memorable roles Wastl Witt is the figure of Joseph Filser in the Bauer Fluctuating Class of Ludwig Thoma is in the film adaptation in 1955. His grave is at the Munich east cemetery (grave no. 28-10-16).

  • A street in the Munich district of Blumenau was named in 1964.
  • The native community of Hausham in the district of Miesbach had the academic sculptor Quirin Roth erect a fountain memorial with a life-size bronze sculpture of the actor in Naturfreundestrasse for their famous son.
