Telnjaschka ( Russian Тельняшка ) is the blue-and-white stripe, cotton traditional undershirt of the sailors of the Ukrainian and Russian navies.

The Telnjaschka was introduced in the Imperial Russian Navy in 1874 , later also used by the Soviet Navy and is still part of the uniform of Russian sailors , paratroopers and marines .

Telnjaschka is produced in different fabric thicknesses and cuts. The warmest variant, knitted four times, was developed as an undersuit for dry suits .

Other color variants such as black and white are common. Red and white is used by the anti-terrorist unit RADON and the special units OMON and Spetsnaz .
