Amateur actors

Non-professional actors (also non-professional actors ) are actors who usually do not practice acting full-time and have not completed any acting training .

Theater and musical

In amateur or amateur theater , amateur actors work privately or in theater associations to develop a play that is then performed. In the case of musicals , additional requirements such as singing and dancing are placed on the actors.

Movie and TV

In film and television productions, amateur actors play primarily as extras . Also productions such as soap operas , telenovelas or court shows often rely entirely on amateur actors in order to keep production costs low. Furthermore, scripted reality formats are mainly used by amateur actors in order to generate greater authenticity through ever new and still unknown faces.

Some amateur actors are tested for their suitability at castings over the long term and then added to a card index in which possible roles are already noted in some cases. They can also be placed through agencies that have amateur actors under permanent contract. Occasionally, however, amateur actors are hired spontaneously at a location . In milieu studies , amateur actors even represent a characteristic feature.
