Environment study

A milieu study refers to artistic works whose central theme is social milieus and their peculiarities. This term is especially used to describe literature and films.

Films in the milieu study genre are often characterized by the fact that they are shot on original locations with amateur actors who often really come from this milieu.

Subjects are, for example, subcultures such as the working class environment or lifestyles in certain parts of the city. The social relationships within these milieus are central .

The neighborhood study is a special form of the milieu study .
