Sascha Westrich

Sascha Westrich (born December 3, 1975 in Siegen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German ice hockey referee who directs games in the 2nd Bundesliga and the Oberliga . Westrich is registered with the Zweibrücker EG .

Career

Westrich went through the youth teams of the youth and the juniors at his home club EHC Zweibrücken Hornets before he moved to the Mannheim ERC in the junior league in the 1994/95 season. In the 1995/96 season he returned to his home club, which was then playing in the 2nd division North, which was the third highest division. From the 1996/97 season he played for various regional league clubs, including the EC Dillingen and the ERC Zweibrücken Snipers.

Before the 1997/98 season he ended his playing career and became a referee. After four years in the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association, he was appointed DEB in the 2001/02 season . There he worked as a line referee for seven years, four of them in the DEL , before he was appointed main referee in the 2008 season. With the appointment as main referee, he was also appointed to the DEB and DEL trainee programs, in which referees are trained for tasks in the highest divisions.

He has had the DEL license since 2009, but mainly directs games in the 2nd Bundesliga and the Oberliga .

At international level, he has directed a number of international matches for the senior national team and the youngsters. He also played a tournament for the Deutschland Cup and was appointed to the IIHF Development Camp .
