- 1800 : During the Second Coalition War , the French army under General Jean-Victor Moreau defeated the Austro-Bavarian forces commanded by Archduke Johann of Austria in the Battle of Hohenlinden . - 1810 : The British Mauritius campaign ends with the surrender of the French troops. As a result, the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues become part of the British Empire .
