Katharina Ley

Katharina Ley is a German actress.She was born on December 3, 1979 in Heidelberg .

Life

Ley studied from 2000 to 2004 at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin .

During her studies she played Ilse in Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind at the Deutsches Theater Berlin under the direction of Ulrich Matthes . After graduating in 2004, she played Regine Engstrand in Gespenster von Henrik Ibsen directed by Gian Manuel Rau at the Staatstheater Stuttgart . From 2005 to 2008 she had her first permanent engagement at the Schauspiel Leipzig under the directorship of Wolfgang Engel . Under his direction she played Thekla in Wallenstein and Solveig in Peer Gynt . For the latter role, she received a nomination for Young Actress of the Year 2006 from the trade journal Theater heute . Other important roles in Leipzig were Cate in Zerbombt by Sarah Kane and Inken Peter in Before Sunrise by Gerhart Hauptmann .

After a long stay abroad in London and New Zealand, Ley moved to Saarbrücken at the Saarland State Theater in 2010. Her first role was Hamlet in the play of the same name by William Shakespeare . Other important roles here were the actress in the world premiere The Great March by Wolfram Lotz and Heather in the Blair Witch project .

Ley has been working freelance since 2012 and lives with her family in Heidelberg.
