Jesper Bøje Christensen

Jesper Bøje Christensen (born December 3, 1944 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish harpsichordist and music researcher, especially in the field of figured bass .

Life

Jesper B. Christensen was from 1972 to 1985 lecturer in historical composition, figured bass and performance practice at the Royal Danish University of Music in Copenhagen. Jesper Christensen has been teaching harpsichord, basso continuo, chamber music and performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis since 1988 , and he has also been a visiting professor at the CNSM in Lyon , at the Département de musique ancienne of the Geneva Conservatory, at the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz , as well as at numerous Master classes. In 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2001 Christensen was a member of the jury at the international harpsichord competition at the MAfestival Bruges and in 2006 President of the jury at the chamber music competitionPremio Bonporti in Rovereto , Italy , and chairman of the Telemann competition in Magdeburg several times .

He is the author of the textbook The Basics of Thorough Bass Playing in the 18th Century (Kassel 1992) and, together with Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, the author of the article Thorough Bass in the music dictionary of music in the past and present .
