Schola Cantorum Basiliensis
The Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (SCB) in Basel was founded in 1933 by Paul Sacher as a private "teaching and research institute" for early music .
The cellist and viol player August Wenzinger and the violinist and music teacher Ina Lohr (1903–1983) had a decisive influence right from the start . In 1954 the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis was integrated into the Music Academy of the City of Basel . In 1999 the institute became the University of Early Music . It has had a strong influence on the early music movement since it was founded . The baroque orchestra La Cetra was founded in 1999 for the graduates of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis .
In 2008 the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis celebrated its 75th anniversary. The illustrated book Wunderkammer Alte Musik - Die Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with photos by AT Schäfer was created for this occasion .
The teachers include a. the countertenor Andreas Scholl , the conductor Andrea Marcon and the harpsichordists Jörg-Andreas Bötticher and Jesper Bøje Christensen . Thomas Drescher has been the director of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis since April 2016.
