Rolf Junghanns

Rolf Junghanns (born August 19, 1945 in Gotha ; † April 11, 1993 in Bad Krozingen ) was a German pianist and musicologist .

Live and act

Rolf Junghanns studied historical keyboard instruments and figured bass with Fritz Neumeyer at the Freiburg University of Music . Since 1970 he has been teaching historical keyboard instruments and figured bass at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis . He was interested in playing historical instruments. He became a specialist in performing early music on historical keyboard instruments. In addition to his teaching activities, he made an active contribution to concerts and broadcasting at home and abroad. From 1987 to 1993 he was the conductor of the Friedenau Chamber Concerts. His playing is documented by numerous recordings.

After Fritz Neumeyer's death he inherited the "Fritz Neumeyer Collection of Historical Keyboard Instruments", which he looked after together with Bradford Tracey . After the death of the three owners, the collection was transferred to a foundation. It is still housed and can be viewed in the castle of Bad Krozingen.
